About Lingle Directory

The Lingle Directory: Alternative Programs for Children and Youth is a legacy of the National Consortium of Alternatives for Youth-At-Risk (NCAYAR) – a national advocacy organization started in the late 1970’s. The mission of NCAYAR was to identify innovative concepts and programs for youth-at risk, and to disseminate this information to appropriate individuals and organizations.

Transition

The National Center for Juvenile Justice continues NCAYAR’s work by maintaining and developing the Consortium’s automated directory of alternative programs for children and youth across the country. The Center has expanded the information gathered about each program and made it accessible through a website that is designed for juvenile justice professionals and families to search for innovative alternatives. An objective of the website is to also acquaint users with important considerations for selecting a provider.
