CARF accredits rehabilitation and human services
providers. The mission of CARF is to promote the quality, value, and optimal
outcomes of services through accreditation that centers on enhancing the lives

JCAHO: Joint
Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

JCAHO provides evaluation and accreditation services
for behavioral health care organizations including those that provide mental
health, chemical dependency, mental retardation/developmental disabilities
services, and other psychosocial services as well as foster care agencies. Many
states recognize JCAHO accreditation in lieu of licensing requirements for

COA: The
Council on Accreditation for Children and Family Services.

COA is an independent child and family services and
behavioral healthcare accrediting organization. COA develops standards by using
a consensus model with input from service providers, funders, policymakers and

ACA: American
Correctional Association. www.aca.org
ACA has developed national standards of operation
for services, programs and operations that are part of correctional agencies/
facilities. ACA accredits correctional facilities or programs for adults and
juveniles housed in correctional facilities, detention centers, community
correctional programs as well as having established standards for probation and
parole agencies, health care programs and electronic monitoring programs. A
